Packing for a coastal home

Heavy things like books and kitchenware go into small cartons so one person can lift them. Glass, crockery and framed pictures are wrapped one by one and packed upright. Every carton is labelled by room, so unpacking takes an hour instead of a day of guessing. Keep your documents in a waterproof pouch in the bag that travels with you.

Picking the right vehicle

A mini truck is enough for a light 1BHK, a few big items, or a lane too narrow for anything bigger. It’s open at the top, so it suits short trips in dry weather.

For a 2BHK or larger, for a load with a fridge, a TV and plenty of cartons, for a longer trip, and for any move between October and December, we use a closed container truck. The load stays dry, dust-free and locked.

If your load sits between two sizes, we’ll say go up one. A bit of spare room costs less than a second trip.

Planning a move around the coast
